Nicole Curtis is a famous American media personality and self-taught home rehabber and designer. She is popularly recognized as a host of the home renovation show ‘Rehab Addict.’ and ‘Beach Flip’ of DIY and HGTV. Besides being the host of two hit interior designing and old houses renovation shows, she is also a licensed real estate agent of Minnesota.
Early Life and Education
Nicole Curtis was born in Lake Orion, Michigan, U.S., on 20 August 1976. She was born to her parents Rod and Joanie. She spent most of her childhood days in Lake Orion along with her family. Her parents were worked in a home renovation business in Detroit. She has a brother named Ryan Curtis.
Curtis has a fond attachment of her grandparents. She bought back her grandparents’ old mansion in 2015 and fixed it up in season seven of her show. Her grandfather also resides along with her.
Curtis holds American nationality and regarding her ethnicity, she is a White American. She attended the Lake Orion High School and accomplished her graduation in 1994. Following her graduation, she began working as a waitress at different fast food chains, including Hooters and IHOP while she was in college.
Curtis wasn’t able to complete it to open cleaning business though she attended the different college of Michigan and Florida.
Professional Career
Nicole Curtis started her career in renovating old structures after inspiring by her parents. She got enough initially required confidence from her first project which was her own bedroom. She is a self-made woman who first worked as a realtor for Minneapolis broker, where she featured as a guest on the show ‘Sweat Equity.’
After appearing as a guest for around six months, Curtis started her show Rehab Addict on the DIY Network. The shows’ first episode was aired on October 13, 2010. It moved to HGTV in 2014 and became part of the channel’s prime time show. Currently, the show is running its 8th season in the HGTV which aired on October 4, 2017.
Personal Life, Married, and Children
Nicole Curtis is a married woman who was previously married to her boyfriend Steve Lane in the 1990s. Curtis gave birth to her child, a son, Ethan when she was only 20-year-old. At the time, Ethan’s father missed his birth as he was arrested for manslaughter.
The couple also lived together after Lane came back from the jail. However, Curtis and her former husband Lane separated in September 1998, as per court documents obtained by Radar. They finalized their divorce in 2009.
Following their divorce, she raised her son as a single mother. Curtis later began dating with Shane Maguire who is the father of Curtis’ toddler son, 2, Harper. The couple couldn’t last long and split up after several years of their love affair.
Custody Battle
A single mother of two, Curtis has been fighting for the custody of her two children for a long time. She revealed her legal battle with her ex-husband Steve in the year 2017. They are fighting for more than a 15-year-long legal battle.
Curtis filed for child support and full physical custody against her former husband Steve in 2000. In response, he requested his ex-wife joint legal and custody. The couple later made an agreement with Steve having visitation two days a week. Nonetheless, it didn’t last for long.
In the year 2015, Curtis and her high-school-aged son Ethan got into an exclusive fight and their relationship was changed forever.
After that, Ethan denied to come back home and started living with his grandmother instead of Curtis. Meanwhile, she again engaged in a headline-making custody battle with her ex-boyfriend Shane Maguire, is the father of Curtis’ second son, Harper.
After Curtis filed a protective order against her, Maguire also went to court in 2015. In an interview with Country Living, she revealed about her troubling romantic relationship with Maguire, saying
“Our situation is absolutely horrifying and heartbreaking”
The couple is still fighting for the custody of their child, Harper.

Nicole Curtis is one of the well-known figures in the American television industry who rose to stardom with her worldwide popular show ‘Rehab Addict.’ She is also a licensed realtor and interior designer who has garnered a tremendous amount of money from her various professions.
As of January 2018, Curtis has an estimated net worth of around $7 million, according to Celebrity Net Worth. As a licensed realtor and interior designer, she earns more than $65k and $48k respectively, as an annual salary.
Interestingly, believe it or not, Curtis once purchased the house for $1 and spent around $100k to fix it up. She eventually sold the house for $145k.
As per her interview with Quirky Inspired, Curtis said that she couldn’t afford a pretty home and bought the ugliest 1945 Ranch for only $52K in Tampa, Florida when she was only 18. She paid $596.42 a month for the house.
In 2013, Curtis bought a dilapidated house for $2 million in Minneapolis. The city of Minneapolis sued her company claiming that she wasn’t able to renovate the house. But, it was settled in May 2017.
In addition to her TV career, she has also published many books ‘Better Than New: Lessons I’ve Learned from Saving Old Homes (and How They Saved Me), on October 18, 2016. The book’s Kindle was priced at $9.99 whereas its Hardcover was priced at $15.37.
Charity Work
Besides, Nicole Curtis’ popularity, she is also a kind-hearted woman. She started Nicole Curtis Foundation which funds money for various purposes. The charity largely raised money for cancer and fallen American soldiers.
