Early Life and Education
Ellen Rucker Sellers was born in Lancaster, South Carolina, US. She was raised by her parents Dr. Douglas; a dentist and Ruby Rucker; a teacher in her hometown Lancaster. She is the youngest of seven siblings among which two of her sisters are named Ruby Rucker and Lone Margaret.
Sellers attended Lancaster High School and completed her high school level. Following her schooling, she joined The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and studied Chiropractic medicine.
Professional Career
During her college days, Ellen Rucker Sellers worked as a varsity cheerleader at the University of North Carolina. She also practiced hair treatment for a decade in Lancaster, South Carolina. Furthermore, she appeared in a TV reality show on WE channel, ‘Love Thy Sister’ along with her sister, Lone Rucker.
Sellers has taken a break from her Chiropractic practice and began working on her brand, ‘Rucker Roots,’ a hair care line. Ellen started the brand in June 2014 along with her sister Lone Rucker. Rucker Roots is growing tremendously, and it was also picked up as an exclusive treatment in a new blow dry bar, &BLOWDRY, in Chicago, Illinois.
Personal Life
Ellen Rucker Sellers has been married twice. Ellen is currently married to her boyfriend, Bakari Sellers after a long time of dating. The couple tied the knot in the summer of 2015. Her husband Bakari is an American politician & attorney, is currently the member of Democratic Party.
Ellen previously married her college sweetheart, Vince Carter, is NBA player for Dallas Mavericks. She first met Vince while she was working as a varsity cheerleader at the University of North Carolina. After a few months, they began dating and fell in love.
After Ellen’s graduation in the year 2004, the couple got married, and they welcomed their daughter named Kai Michelle Carter. She was born on 1st June 2005. However, the couple got divorced in 2006. Currently, she is living in Charlotte, North Carolina along with her husband and daughter.
