The American politician and attorney, Bakari Sellers, is a former member of the South Carolina House of Representatives and 2014 Democratic Nominee for Lieutenant Governor of South Carolina. He is currently the Vice-Chairman of the South Carolina Democratic Party.
Early Life and Education
Born on September 18, 1984, in South Carolina, United States, Bakari Sellers was born as Bakari T. Sellers to his parents Gwendolyn Sellers and Cleveland Sellers, are a professor and civil right activist.
Bakari attended the Orangeburg-Wilkinson High School, in Orangeburg, South Carolina. After accomplished his schooling, he attended Morehouse College and earned a bachelor’s degree in African-American Studies in 2005.
Bakari then attended the University of South Carolina School of Law and earned a Juris doctor. Regarding his nationality and ethnicity, Bakari is a Black American.
Professional Career
Bakari Sellers has been serving as a lawyer with the Strom Law Firm, L.L.C. since 2007, in Columbia, South Carolina. He also works as an analyst on CNN. While he was at Morehouse College, Sellers first attended the annual AIPAC conference and became a prominent African-American Zionist.
In the year 2016, Sellers authored a letter signed by 60 fellow African-American politicians urging the Democratic Platforms Committee to keep the same language about Israel that seen in previous Democratic platforms.
Sellers represented South Carolina’s 90th district in the lower house of the state legislature in 2006, where he served for eight years.

Bakari Sellers, 33, is a married man. Sellers has been married to his girlfriend, Ellen Rucker Carter who is the co-founder of the hair treatment product, Rucker Roots. Bakari and his wife Ellen exchanged their vows in the summer of 2015.
Allen was previously married to a professional basketball player, Vince Carter, who she first met at the University of North Carolina. The couple also has a daughter; Kai Michelle Carter was born on 1st June 2005. They got divorced after a couple of years of their marriage.
